A traditional Maldivian wedding ceremony in the romantic setting of Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu creates a unique and special memory for a couple to share and treasure. This is the ideal occasion for renewing vows or having a private and intimate wedding celebration. The service is held at sunset on a desert island beach in the shelter of a hut made from coconut trees and leaves. A traditionally dressed minister, witnesses and friends wait with the bride for the groom to arrive on a Dhoni (traditional sailing vessel) who is then carried to the beach. The ceremony is celebrated according the local traditions with a dowry and exchange of vows and rings. The melodious “bodu beru” drums of the local fishermen accompany the couple on their journey back to their villa. All guests are invited to enjoy the drums ceremonial dances and participate in toasting to the happiness of the couple with Kurumba local coconut. In the evening a barbeque dinner is served to the Bride and Groom in the privacy of their villa and the following day a coconut tree planting ceremony is arranged for the happy couple.
